Hollow Eyes
Beyond the face that stares out at you,
Beyond the deep brown pools of blue,
Beyond the blackness and the light,
Beyond the frozen chill of night.
Behind these hollow eyes is seen
A mystery of misery.
Behind the empty shells they are
Is death...and life....
Look closer and you'll see....me.
Afraid to call out in the storm,
The wind lashes words right back.
Gusts take the breath and suffocate
As a last attempt is made.
Behind these hollow eyes is seen
A mystery of misery.
Behind the empty shells they are
Is death...and life....
Look closer and you'll see....me.
She needs love, she needs care.
But who is there to give it?
The ones she once turned to for help
Now scorn and leave her to it.
Behind these hollow eyes is seen
A mystery of misery.
Behind the empty shells they are
Is death...and life....
Look closer and you'll see....me.
The pale ghost of skin that's on her face
Startles the observer.
The laughter and smile so fakely real
Convince all it's ok.
Behind these hollow eyes is seen
A mystery of misery.
Behind the empty shells they are
Is death...and life....
Look closer and you'll see....me.
